While the 2016-17 Flames now have a place in the history books, it is the future of this team that has Calgary abuzz. With a 9-0-1 record over their last 10 games, the Flames are now competing for home-ice advantage in the playoffs. With the team experiencing so much success of late, its hard to believe that six weeks ago the Flames were on the outside looking in.

After a listless 5-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 24th, Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan spoke with the media, summing up the thoughts of many fans. Calling the team effort “pathetic”, the frustrating loss was the Flames’ fourth defeat in a row. Since Gulutzan’s infamous interview, the Flames have completely rebounded – posting a 14-2-1 record.

The Flames face a formidable opponent as they try to make it 10 straight on Monday night. The Pittsburgh Penguins are in town, led by superstar captain Sidney Crosby. With the defending Stanley Cup champions on a five game win streak of their own, the 7 pm match-up is one of the most anticipated of the season. Be sure to watch it.
