Music, Beer, Food Trucks, Wiener Dogs.
Everything listed is practically everything you could dream of included in a day out in the city. Well, good news for you, Calgary – it’s here. Circle The Wagons is happening on Saturday, September 10th at the University District South Park.
Local superstars @BassBus, @YYCFoodTrucks & @VillageBrewery have created a travelling carnival of local food, beer, music, art and performers, coming together for an event you won’t want to miss out on.
There are three live music stages placed throughout the event grounds with acts from all genres, sure to please even the most discerning music fan, complete with circus performers on the stages and roaming throughout the park.
For the adults, the Village Brewery Square will serve as a nice reprieve from the action of the event. Sit down, have a beer, share a laugh; do what you want!
The main attraction to this carnival is something like no other – the first annual Fast & Furriest Wiener Dog Dash. Wiener dogs from all around Calgary will be gathering on this monumental day as they show off their finest costumes. At 3:00 PM, all the dogs will join together with their proud owners at their side and parade through the festival grounds, cheering and drumming up excitement throughout the crowd. The parade will end at the gates of the racetrack where things start getting serious.
At this time, the owners all pull out their secret weapons – the squeakiest chew toy their little pup has ever dreamed of sinking its teeth into. These squeaky toys are the encouragement that will send their dachshund bolting across the track. However, some dogs may veer off along the way and end up in the crowd giving lots of kisses. Don’t worry, it’s all part of the fun!
Heat by heat, the dogs will compete until a selection of dogs has made it into the semi-finals. This is where things progressively get even more intense until one lucky pup is crowned the winner of the 2016 Button Cup!
