1) A Chive Christmas

Chive Calgary is back again to #partywithapurpose to raise money for Skyeler, a young boy diagnosed with Noonan syndrome. Enjoy a night of drinking, games and a silent auction with all proceeds go towards Skyeler’s Christmas magical.

2) Fundraising Breakfast

The Calgary Public Library Foundation is hosting their First Annual Fundraising Breakfast to raise money to maintain their standard of excellence. Enjoy a light breakfast while hearing about the library’s success stories and vision for the future.

Where: Calgary Public Library – Central Library
When: December 6 – 7:30 a.m.
Donation: Optional

3) CP Holiday Train

The holiday decorated train will be putting on a benefit concert for the Calgary Food Banks. Performing inside the railcar will be Dallas Smith and Odds. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one!

Where: Anderson C-Train Station
When: December 10 – 7 p.m.
Donation: Food Bank item or cash donation

4) Okotoks Food Bank Christmas Concert

Listen to local musicians perform original and classic Christmas songs, with all proceeds going to the Okotoks Food Bank.

Where: Okotoks Evangelical Free Church
When: December 13 & 14 – 7 p.m.
Donation: $10 tickets and a food bank item

5) Soup Sisters

Volunteer at a soup kitchen to feed the hungry, but in style and with wine! Soup Sisters runs a workshop lead by a professional chef to make soup for the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter and the Awo Taan Healing Lodge. Learn a new soup recipe and enjoy it with a complimentary glass of wine; this is the perfect girls night out!

Donation: $55 participation fee for ingredients, venue and supplies

6) Wrapping for a Cure

Cystic Fibrosis Canada is recruiting volunteers to wrap mall shoppers’ presents and raise money this holiday season. Volunteers can sign up individually, as a group or a company team.

Where: North Hill Centre, Southcentre, Chinook Centre and Market Mall
When: December 1-24 – shifts between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Donation: Your time and creative wrapping skills

7) Christmas Hampers

EvenStart is collecting Christmas hampers for families in need this holiday season. The organization knows each family personally, which means your hamper items will go to a specific family who needs it most.

Where: EvenStart For Children Foundation
When: Now until December 23
Donation: Hamper item or monetary donation

8) Operation Christmas Child

Packing toys, hygiene products and school supplies into an old shoebox you have lying around can make a huge difference for children in less fortunate areas. Pack a shoebox yourself, donate items or volunteer your time packing shoeboxes.

Where: Any Greyhound station or the Calgary Processing Centre
When: Now until December 10

9) Alberta Children’s Hospital

There’s no better time to start volunteering than the holiday season. Start volunteering with a friend or loved one and bring cheer to the children and their families spending Christmas in the hospital. Keep in mind, the application process is a little lengthy and might not be completed until after the holiday season — that doesn’t make it any less of a great time to get started though!

10) Hark! The Calgary Angels Sing!

Get a group of friends, family or coworkers together to go caroling in your neighbourhood, office building or senior’s home. Bring a smile to someone who needs it this Christmas.
