The holiday season is officially in full swing! After a long stretch of Christmas dinners and other holiday hijinks, we still have New Years Eve to look forward to.

Let’s face it – making plans for the busiest night of the year certainly isn’t easy in Calgary. We’ve gathered up a selection of some of the best events going on throughout the city to help you make the right choice for where you’ll celebrate the new year!

Newly opened nightlife spot Music Calgary is hosting their first ever New Years Eve party! If you loved the club’s vibe and energy on grand opening weekend, imagine how it’ll be on the biggest party night of the year!

Tickets are available for $30.00 – Music has a dress code so plan accordingly.
The event runs from 9:00 P.M. and shuts down at 2:00 A.M.

The Beatmatrix New Years Eve Masquerade Gala


This mysterious masquerade event promises a main room fuelled by hip hop, RnB, old school classics and a side room where Bollywood comes alive! Walk the red carpet; get interviewed, maybe even include that special someone! The gala features dancers, video crews, masquerade girls throughout the event! Hosted at the Metropolitan Centre at 333 4th Ave SW, the event kicks off at 9:00 P.M and runs ’til 2:00 AM.

Early Bird tickets have sold out but you can still snag general admission tickets for $50.00 here until December 25th.

For the partygoers who prefer to live it up, bottle service packages are also available.

New Years Eve Fireworks – Olympic Plaza


Of all the fireworks that go off around the city at midnight on New Years Eve, Olympic Plaza consistently has the best views. Crowds are expected to be quite large so be sure to plan accordingly – don’t forget your camera!

Ocean’s 17 NYE Celebration

The event is hosted in The Westin Hotel Ballroom downtown at 320 4 Ave SW. Three different ticket options are available; each package includes a premium welcome beverage, a late-night buffet and champagne at midnight. VIP ticket holders also receive additional benefits!

The Martin Experience: General Admission is $155 (currently on sale for $145)

Murmur Nightclub – New Years Eve 2017


Join Murmur Calgary in ringing in the New Year! With music spun by Staysick, Fiend and Zig N’ Bholt, this event is sure to please. Calgary Flames vs. Arizona Coyotes

The Calgary Flames are taking on the Arizona Coyotes at the Scotiabank Saddledome at 8:00 P.M. – grab your jersey, grab a famous “dome beer” and cheer on the boys in red!

TELUS Spark – Noon Year’s Eve

Looking for some New Year’s activities for younger kids with early bedtimes? TELUS Spark has you covered.

Ring in the year on December 31st at noon with TELUS Spark! Take part in the special countdown beginning at 11:45 A.M. set to the tune of hydrogen balloon explosions and afterward, join in the celebrations at the bubble wrap dance party!

Glitter and Gold 2017


Glitter and Gold is Blueprint Alberta, Live Nation and Ink Promotions Annual New Years Eve rave. This year’s edition is headlined by Porter Robinson, Audien, Robotaki and TKO!

This year the event is being hosted at the events centre of the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino – tickets are hovering around $90.00 but if you move quickly you might be able to get a deal off of one of the countless promoters throughout the city.

This event runs from 9:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M. and is bound to be a great time!

Village Square and Southland Leisure Centre Family Pool Celebration

Play, swim, jump, splash and slide into 2017! Bring the whole family for tons of fun.

The pool parties run from 5:30 to 8:30. Families can look forward to arts and crafts, games, obstacle courses, a bouncy house and the “take a selfie” photo booth!

After you’ve had your fun around the leisure centre, hop in the pool where there will be a DJ pumping out the tunes as you enjoy the wave pool, slides, hot tub and safari splash! Stay until the very end to enjoy the pool party countdown!

Esenta: An Intimate New Years Affair

Put on your top hat, curl up your moustache and fasten your corset and dance the night away in true Cirque fashion to some of Calgary’s finest beats. Zoo Year’s Eve – Calgary Zoo


The Calgary Zoo is hosting a night of New Years Eve celebration from 6:00 P.M. ‘til 9:00 P.M. – look forward to over 1.5 million Christmas lights in over 200 displays all throughout the zoo, a variety of interactive and choreographed light displays and more.

Be sure to check out the skating rink set under a canopy of light; KidsSport Calgary is offering FREE skate rentals!

Unfortunately, there won’t be any fireworks at the zoo this year. Don’t worry though – you’ll have plenty of time to head to one of the many other firework launches around the city after you’re done checking out the Christmas lights.
