With the mellow-vibes from Folk Fest in the rear view mirror, it’s time for badass blues to take the main stage at Shaw Millennium Park with the Calgary International Blues Festival. And for some of us, it’s just in time; this blues festival is the real deal.
Your special lady/gentleman friend leaves you?
Feeling down & out in YYC?
Is all the talk of low oil prices making for a major buzz kill?
Or maybe you just want to hear some good music.
I’m not one for clichés about the blues being the cure for this and that, but, if you answered yes to any of the questions above, well…you might want to partake in some live emotional guitar solos downtown.
You might be thinking that it’s all melancholy & sadness, not to worry; the blues aren’t exclusive to one hyperbolic emotion, it embodies everything under the skyline. Nevertheless, it’s time to grab an adult beverage or two and listen to some blues.
There are a variety of events happening around Calgary for the International Blues Festival with the featured musicians performing Thursday-Sunday.
