Ok, so some restrictions are lifted before Valentine’s Day but there’s still some limits. But that’s okay! Let’s make the best of what we’ve got. We have put together a list of cute ideas that will WOW bae and support a local business in YYC! We hope this is helpful!
1. Classic romantic. Order a bouquet of roses!
Romance isn’t dead, not even in a COVID world. Although… roses are limited so ORDER AHEAD OF TIME! Support a local florist and order beautiful flowers! We recommend Le Bouquet but you have to place your order before February 4th, 2021!
2. Romantic Surf & Turf Dinner
Treat your loved one to an amazing candlelight dinner in the comfort of your own home! And no, you don’t have to be a master chef. Modern Steak has put together a luxurious 3-course dinner. It starts off with a delicious Wagyu Beef Gyozas and Crab-In-A-Jar. For the main course, you get to enjoy fresh lobster tail and AAA Alberta beef striploin that is paired with two sides. Then you can finish the night off with a delicious dessert.
Best part? You have the option to cook the main yourself to add in that personal touch or you can leave it up to the professionals. Either way, you won’t regret it.
3. Keep up the Hot Chocolate Bomb Trend!
This was huge over the holiday season and now they’re even sweeter with cute heart shaped bombs. Just in time to provide little treats for your friends, colleagues, your partner, and everyone else you love! We checked out @sweetsbymariam for the cutest heart gems!
4. Eat at Calgary’s most anticipated restaurant before their grand opening!
That’s right, Chakalaka Canada is having their soft opening from February 11-14! In case you haven’t heard, they are Calgary’s first DIY hot stone grill restaurant featuring exotic meats. Want to try crocodile, kangaroo, ostrich, frog legs and more? They also have special cocktails inspired by tropical places around the world! Sign up for the VIP list now so you find out more. Seats are limited!
5. Desserts and MORE desserts!
There is never enough sweets for your sweetheart, right? Byollia Macarons and Tea is serving up more than just macarons, they will have serving up mini cakes as well! The mini cakes are made with a macaron shell and topped with with gluten free friendly white cake, raspberry purée, rose ganache, a lychee buttercream, and dried organic rose petals on top.YUMM! Again, we suggest you pre-order so they aren’t sold out.
6. Last but not least, a rose that never dies!
Let your loved one know that your love for them is forever by getting them a rose that never dies! Ok, so they will die eventually. But a rose that lasts a few years as opposed to a few days still sounds like a win! We spotted Element & Bloom who is only a small locally own business in Calgary. Their store is on Instagram so you will have DM them to order.
Sorry, not sorry – these might be mostly food related… but hey! Who doesn’t love sweets? This list features local Calgary businesses as well. So let’s show the whole community some LOVE! We thought it was a nice way to showcase some smaller Calgary businesses and to bring you unique gift ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day this year! #YYCNow
