Shakespeare by the Bow

Theatre Calgary works with emerging actors and theatre talent for this outdoor show. In 2015, The Temptest will be performed on Prince’s Island Park. Starring a company of Alberta’s up-and-coming actors, every performance is pay-what-you-will (no ticket required).

Common Ground Festival

The Common Ground Festival has returned and is ready to rock this city to its very core with nine of the newest and hottest theatrical shows from some of the most talented young artists in the city!

Calgary International Blues Festival

The Calgary Blues Music Association presents the best regional and international blues over seven hot summer days of nonstop music. Including nightly Twilight Blues dance parties, this family friendly event is renowned for its great music, relaxed atmosphere and warm hospitality.

The Calgary Fringe Festival is an uncensored, non-juried performance festival that presents over 30 productions and 150 performances! Expect the unexpected!

Calgary International Reggae Festival

ReggaeFest is Western Canada’s pre-eminent reggae music and culture festival, featuring first-class performers from Canada and around the world in a family-friendly setting. Opera in the Village

Calgary’s East Village will once again be bursting with music and mirth as Canada’s only outdoor summer opera festival returns for the third annual Opera in the Village! The centerpiece of this year’s Opera in the Village is Gilbert & Sullivan’s comedic opera, The Mikado, along side family friendly matinee performances of The Scorpions’ Sting.

When Words Collide

This festival is for readers, writers, artists and publishers of commercial and literary fiction. Speaking panels, merchants and parties celebrate all genres including young adult, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, romance, historical fiction, film scripts and kid’s books.

Calgary Japanese Festival Omatsuri

Visitors to the Calgary Japanese Festival will be treated to authentic Japanese food and snacks, presentations of traditional music, dance and song, dramatic re-enactments of classic Japanese fairy tales, martial arts demonstrations and more!

Kensington Beach in the City

This year the Sun and Salsa Festival might not be hitting the streets of Kensington this year but that doesn’t mean they’re not throwing a party. The Kensington BRZ will transforming the usually busy street into a beach and Slide the City will be running down 10th St. This 300-metre slip-and-slide and water party will be supplemented with beach volleyball, sprinklers, food trucks and even mermaids.

Calgary Dragon Boat Race & Festival

On the water, teams participate in the 2,000-year-old traditional rowing sport. On land, spectators get to cheer them on while experiencing the music, dance and food of China.
